Which photo session type is right for you? | Houston Family Photography Studio

Raise your hand if you have a USB drive (or, gasp…a CD!) or a Dropbox folder of digital images you received from a photographer that have not made it anywhere past your hard drive (with the possible exception of sharing on social media).

***Sheepishly raises hand***

No shame here, friends! It’s happened to the best of us.

That’s why, from the very beginning, my emphasis has been serving my clients to the fullest extent of my expertise, which includes helping each family select the perfect pieces of heirloom portrait art for their home.

You see, your portraits deserve to be seen and loved.

Your kids deserve to see themselves in places of importance in your home.

You deserve to be reminded - daily - of how much your family means to you. (Especially on those hard days.)

That’s why two out of three of my session types include both printed artwork AND digital files with your purchase.

Because I believe you deserve more from your photos than having them languish in a drawer or on a hard drive.

So how do you make it happen?

I offer three session types, tailored to meet a variety of needs. Read on to see which one best fits your family.

The Classic Session

The Classic Session is right for you if:

  • You prioritize looking-at-the-camera shots over candids (but I’ll always get some candids, too)

  • You want to choose your session location based on how you want your images to look or highlight a meaningful location for your family

  • You prefer to pick and choose which images you want to purchase - you don’t need them all.

  • You know you want either a collection of images for your wall (I’ll help you decide on framing vs. canvas, sizes, all the details!) or a gorgeous album for your coffee table.

  • You want a great variety of images with all the various groupings - the whole family (multiple pose options), kids individually, kids with mom, kids with dad, siblings together, etc. Classic Sessions typically result in 40-50 proofs.

  • Most clients spend $1,500-plus on their collection of portrait art, but there is no minimum purchase and no pressure…so if all you need is one fabulous canvas or framed print to hang over the fireplace, no problem.

The Storybook Session

The Storybook Session is right for you if:

  • A beautiful variety of candids and detail shots are more important to you than looking-at-the-camera shots (of course, I’ll get a few of those, too).

  • You know that you won’t want to leave a single image behind (this session is all-inclusive)

  • You want to choose your session location based on how you want your images to look or highlight a meaningful location for your family

  • You want an album plus an entire collection of digital files and 5x7 prints for sharing ($1,695 plus tax, all-inclusive)

  • You want to include special props to help tell your family’s story

The Petite Session

The Petite Session is right for you if:

  • You want a smaller collection of images (typically 15-20 proofs are provided in an online gallery)

  • A shorter shoot time works better for your family (hello, toddlers!) You’ll have 20 minutes of shooting time.

  • You want an option for digital-only purchases

  • You want smaller purchase options (most clients invest $600-$900 on their Petite Session purchases)

  • You are available during the weekday (Petite Sessions are only offered on specific weekends in the fall)

Still not sure which one is right for you?
